Taster session

A fun introductory fishing lesson for all ages

Using very simple and easy angling techniques this session is designed to be fun for the whole family, parents can choose to fish with their children, have a go themselves or sit back and watch the fun, enjoying the tranquil surroundings with a cold drink or a hot cuppa.

Starting with 3 & 4 metre whips with a simple float set up, very easy to use, no reel and simple to cast, just lower into the water and when the float disappears lift up and hopefully you have a fish.

During the summer months you would be very unlucky indeed not to catch fish during your session. If that were to happen you can stay until you do catch or come back another time free of charge.

Using a glass fish tank to retain the specimen caught, gives us a chance to talk with the student about it and the environment in which it lives.

We also have some fantastic wildlife around the lake, there's a large Badger set in the woods, roaming Roe deer, nesting King fishers, Woodpeckers & Buzzards as well as many other song birds.

During the height of summer  a pair of Peregrine falcons visit the lake, the Swallows will arrive every lunchtime and evening swooping down, drinking water from the lake on the wing.
