Carpitright Lake Weather and Tips

This page contains a forecast for the local area of the lake and some tips on how to read the forecast and other weather related info. If forecast dose not appear it is being updated.

Observation

Note down the conditions -wind-temp-pressure (high/low cloud) when your catching and when you not. Slowly building a picture of how your water reacts to different conditions. Every lake is different; however there are certain conditions all year round that are worth looking out for.

  • Warm S/W winds in summer, often mild and wet spring and autumn
  • Big winds - after a still period in summer or winter
  • After a thunder storm - ending a muggy spell
  • After heavy summer rain - ending a dry spell
  • Mild consistent low pressure for four or five days during winter

The Moon

It is also important to observe the moon phases; the pull of a full moon has been physically measured in a volume of water as small as a tea cup. Therefore it makes sense to look at how it affects the water your fishing, day as well as the night.

Around and on the first full moon of December, is believed by many top anglers to produce some of the biggest fish during the winter months.

No two lakes or the fish in them will ever react exactly the same to conditions caused by the weather or the moon phase. However the vast history of catches of named fish shows us that, the rare occasions they are put on the bank. It tends to be from the same area, around the same time of year after a certain spell of weather.

Every water has its own rhythm with nature; fish are in tune with it and live their lives to its beat. If you observe and listen to the beat of your water, you will be tuning into the water yourself.

It’s all part of the watercraft needed to get you in the right place at the right time. If you can't get to the waters banks as often as you would like, try to put yourself there when the conditions are good
